The FENIX energy concept – interim results

As part of pilot projects, the functionality of the FENIX energy concept – that is, the idea of integrating electric heating, renewable energy sources and energy storage in both residential buildings and industrial applications – is being tested in practice.

FENIX Jeseník Energy Centre

The site comprises a complex of refurbished and new production halls, with adjoining brownfield areas offering potential for further development. Automated production lines are used extensively in the manufacturing processes – in particular, a cutting and bending centre for sheet metal processing, robotic welding and handling stations, a powder coating plant and extrusion lines for cable production.

What people have said about us

The battery also protects us from micro-outages, during which the system very quickly switches to “island mode,” and we power the facility either from the solar power plant or from the battery. The cost of acquiring the MES battery storage system, with a capacity of 150 kW and 576 kWh, was under 10 million crowns. According to calculations, the estimated payback period is about 8 years, but personally, I estimate it to be 5 years. The FENIX Group was recommended to us by our solar power plant supplier; we drove out to Jeseník, where the owners showed us everything we were interested in, and that convinced me.

What people have said about us

Our house is built using smart, energy-efficient technologies that work together as a single system. Heating is provided by electric radiant systems—heating foils, cables, and radiant panels—which allow us to heat only the part of the house we need at any given time. Energy is generated by a 15.4 kWp photovoltaic system on the east and west sides of the roof, which ensures power generation from morning to evening. We store the surplus in a HES battery storage system with a capacity of over 40 kWh, which—thanks to its capacity and Czech software—enables us to buy and sell electricity on the spot market. The home’s smart control system then integrates all the technologies and automatically optimizes energy consumption. As a result, the house is nearly self-sufficient in the summer, significantly reduces costs in the winter, and provides comfortable and economically sustainable living over the long term.

What people have said about us

The heating circuits are connected via quick-connect couplings, which greatly simplifies operation. In the event of freezing temperatures, all that is needed is to connect the connecting wires and the power source—most often a portable generator. During operation, we use our own 32-kW generator, so operating costs consist solely of diesel fuel consumption. The purchase price of the cables, including accessories, was 87,000 CZK excluding VAT. During a frost of –2 °C in May 2025, the system proved its worth—the protected rows showed significantly less damage than the unprotected parts of the vineyard. It is estimated that the cables can save 50–70% of the harvest that would otherwise be destroyed.

What people have said about us

From an investor’s perspective, I appreciate in hindsight that the proposed electric heating solution was designed with specific local conditions, surface type, and climatic loads in mind. I particularly appreciate the individualized approach to power design—in the case of the project in Prostějov, our geographic location and the required power density (approx. 130 W/m²) were correctly taken into account. I also appreciate the technological simplicity of the entire solution. The installation of the heating mats beneath the artificial turf is logically organized, straightforward, and easy to implement—from the layers of aggregate and drainage underlayment through the heating cables to the turf itself. It was precisely this combination of technical sophistication, site-specific adaptation, and ease of installation that was the decisive factor for us in selecting the heating system for our stadium’s playing fields.

What people have said about us

We were looking for a way to improve thermal comfort in the sensitive space of the basilica without interfering with its architecture. The solution using ECOFLOOR heating cables and mats allowed us to heat specific areas—the congregation’s pews and the sacristy—exactly when needed. We appreciate the system’s quick startup, the option for wireless control, and the fact that the installation remains completely hidden. The result is a pleasant environment for clergy and visitors alike, without disrupting the spiritual atmosphere of the place.
