A heat pump in a passive house? FENIX is taking a different approach

Cyril Svozil Jr.
29.05.2026

The CzechCrunch podcast featured FENIX Group’s perspective on current trends in residential heating. According to Cyril Svozil, a heat pump is not a suitable solution for low-energy and passive buildings – primarily due to the high initial cost and the need for repeated investment over a period of around 15 years. He argues that, compared with electric radiant heating systems, they do not deliver significant savings on running costs and therefore do not make economic sense.

The FENIX Group has therefore been developing its own long-term energy concept based on a combination of electric heating, photovoltaics and, above all, Battery storage. These are no longer merely a supplement, but an active element in consumption management – thanks to advanced algorithms, they can optimise the purchase and sale of electricity and even capitalise on price fluctuations in the market. The result can be significantly more efficient household operations, including the charging of electric vehicles.
