What do the various abbreviations mean?Heating Cables and Mats are laid in a sand bed, a concrete slab or adhesive mortar. The installation method is chosen depending on where the heating is to be fitted.
For pavements, the cable is usually laid in a sand bed. Embedding the cable in a concrete slab is used on vehicular routes to provide mechanical protection for the cables, particularly where the risk of loads from vans and lorries cannot be ruled out. Applying the cable with adhesive mortar is then used for stairs and terraces.
Heating outdoor areas requires a high power density of 300–400 W/m² to ensure the system functions correctly even at sub-zero temperatures. Proper regulation is vital; it monitors both temperature and humidity and activates the heating as soon as there is a risk of ice forming. This not only ensures the reliable operation of the heating system but is also essential for economical operation.

Regulation for outdoor applications, such as the heating of outdoor areas, pavements and paths, monitors and evaluates specific parameters – for example, it measures not only temperature but also humidity. They also feature non-standard temperature measurement ranges, greater resistance of the temperature sensors, resistance to humidity, a higher IP rating, and so on.
