The MST heating mat, with an output of 300 W/m², offers a reliable solution for frost protection on outdoor surfaces, where it ensures the smooth melting of snow and prevents the formation of dangerous black ice.
The mat is based on a robust single-core MAPSV heating cable with a diameter of 5.0–5.5 mm. Its core consists of a stranded heating element (a solid strand comprising 7 wires), which is protected by full shielding and an outer sheath resistant to UV radiation. Unlike indoor mats, the MST does not use a woven fabric base, but is held together solely by fixing tapes. This design allows the sand backfill to completely surround the heating cables without any air gaps, thereby improving heat transfer and the overall stability of the substrate.
To simplify installations as much as possible, the mat is fitted with two halogen-free connection wires (cold ends). One is the standard 5 metres long, whilst the other is extended by the full length of the mat (5 m + the length of the mat), which, once the heating mats have been unrolled, is routed parallel to the mat back to the start. This makes it easy to route both supply cables to the power supply point and completely eliminates the need to run the cables back along the entire length of the mat.
