Heating Film Systems ECOFILMUnderfloor heating

Heating Film Systems for Indoor Underfloor Heating

Heating film systems for indoor underfloor heating are slim electric heating elements installed directly beneath the floor covering. They deliver even heat distribution throughout the room, add negligible height to the floor build-up, and provide a cost-effective heating solution for both homes and offices.

Why choose ECOFILM heating films for underfloor heating?

Ultra-thin profile: installed in dry-construction systems with a minimal installation height, making them ideal for use under floating floors and carpets
Energy-efficient heating: each zone and room can be controlled independently
Fast thermal response: heat is generated significantly faster than with hot-water underfloor heating systems
Smart home compatible: integrates with systems such as Loxone and the FENIX Control app
Exceptional durability: when handled correctly during installation and any subsequent work, the heating film will last a lifetime

Ultra-thin profile

At just 0.4 mm thick, ECOFILM heating film can be installed without raising the floor level — making it particularly well suited to renovation projects. The film lays directly beneath the final floor covering with no impact on the floor's structure or appearance.

Heats the entire floor area

ECOFILM underfloor heating films heat the entire floor surface uniformly, even at low output levels of 40–80 W/m².

Temperature control via a smart home system

ECOFILM heating films are a modern underfloor heating solution fully compatible with smart home systems. When paired with compatible thermostats and controls, they enable precise temperature management — both locally and centrally — including remote control via the FENIX Control app.

ECOFILM films integrate seamlessly into smart home ecosystems, working alongside other home technologies to adapt heating to actual occupancy and energy management needs. The result is enhanced comfort, efficient energy use, and complete control over your heating — automated and intelligent.

Frequently asked questions about heating films for indoor underfloor heating

ECOFILM heating films are thin electric heating elements installed directly beneath the final floor covering. Their key advantage is genuinely uniform heat distribution across the entire surface. They warm the room through even radiant heat from the floor, delivering a high level of thermal comfort and a pleasant sensation of warmth underfoot. Their minimal installation height makes them suitable for both new builds and renovation projects.

ECOFILM Heating Films systems are primarily designed for floating floors, such as laminate, timber or vinyl floor coverings. The system is designed to ensure safe operation and a long service life for both the floor and the heating films. Correct power rating and regulation settings are important for each type of flooring.

Yes. ECOFILM underfloor heating is an energy-efficient system. Operating at low temperatures with individual room control, it can be optimised to match actual heating needs at all times. When combined with smart controls, it becomes a genuinely economical heating solution. The system requires a thermostat that monitors both the room air temperature and the floor temperature via a dedicated floor sensor.

Heating films actually operate at very low temperatures of 23–27 °C, and changes in floor temperature occur within tens of minutes. A floating floor is therefore operated under virtually the same conditions as if it were laid on a concrete floor with hot-water underfloor heating. Heating films have also already been tested by several manufacturers, who have confirmed that, when using ECOFILM heating film with an output of up to 80 W/m² and controlled by a thermostat with a floor sensor, there is no reason for the warranty to be voided.

ECOFILM heating films cannot be used under tiled floors; they are designed for use under floating floors and their construction does not meet the requirements of the standard for installation in damp areas. Furthermore, they would act as a separating layer, preventing the adhesive from bonding the underlay to the subfloor. We recommend using LDTS (160 W/m²) or LD (160 W/m²) heating mats in combination with F-board insulation panels. If you do not use thermal insulation, there will be significant heat loss into the subfloor and it will take an unnecessarily long time for the floor to heat up. With F-board panels, the floor will heat up within 30 minutes; without them, this may take between 1.5 and 2.5 hours.
