ECOFILM heating films operate at a voltage of 230V and, for safety reasons, soft floor coverings must not be laid on top of them. However, the HEAT-PAK underlay has very good thermal conductivity and the necessary strength, so it can be laid over the heating foil to create a protective layer between the heating foil and the floor covering. It is therefore designed for use in combination with ECOFILM heating foils when installing beneath soft floor coverings (e.g. carpet, vinyl, PVC, etc.) – typically where it is not possible to lay a heating cable within the screed (e.g. retrofitting, refurbishment).
HEAT-PAK underlays are characterised by completely dry installations, adding just 7 mm to the floor structure. The pack contains 8 panels (4 base panels, 3 mm thick, + 4 cover panels, 4 mm thick), each coated with a thin layer of adhesive. The panels are laid and bonded together in two layers (the joints must be staggered to prevent the joints from showing through the floor covering). Once completed, the result is a rigid, compact structure onto which the chosen floor covering can be laid (either loose-laid or glued).
