In terms of design, these are steel tubular radiators, which are commonly used in hot-water heating systems. However, for use in combination with electric heating, these radiators are already fully assembled – that is, they are fitted with an electric heating element (heating rod), filled with antifreeze and sealed. To extend their service life, the power rating of the heating element is approximately 30% lower than the actual output of the Ladder radiator. The heating element is usually fitted with a twisted connection cable, terminated with a standard plug. As electric ladder radiators are not connected to a hot-water system, which is normally fitted with an expansion tank, it is necessary to account for the expansion of the fluid (antifreeze) when heated. For this reason, Ladder radiators are not filled to their full capacity; approximately 10 per cent of the volume is left unfilled. When handling the heated ladder radiator during transport and installation, you may therefore hear the liquid sloshing inside the radiator; this is not a product defect.
Depending on the type, the heating elements in the ladder radiators may (or may not) have a thermostat – either directly on the heating rod or at the end of the connection cable. FENIX typically supplies ladder radiators without a thermostat, as they are often used as part of a complete electric heating system where a master regulation system is installed, making a thermostat on the ladder radiator unnecessary. However, if required, a plug-in thermostat can be purchased separately to control the operation of the ladder radiators. Removing the plug to connect the power cable to a junction box does not invalidate the warranty. Ladder radiators must always be installed in a vertical position with the heating element at the bottom.

This product is an electric local heater falling within the scope of Regulation (EU) 2024/1103. The EcoDesign graphic symbol is an active link to the mandatory information and conditions for its installation.
