The room differential thermostat contains two 16 A / 230 V contacts connected in series. The first (blue scale) is a cut-off contact (+20...-20°C) – the contact opens when the temperature falls below the set value; the second (red scale) is a make contact (+25...0°C) – the contact closes when the temperature falls below the set value. It is therefore possible to set a ‘From – To’ temperature range (e.g. from –10°C to +5°C) within which the connected appliance (e.g. a heating cable) is energised. The thermostat can also be installed outdoors (e.g. on a building façade). WARNING: The thermostat only measures temperature; it does not detect the presence of water, snow or ice. In frost protection applications (protection of roof gutters and downpipes, paths, pavements, steps, etc.), it is therefore necessary to operate the system under supervision to ensure economical operation.
