This is the most reliable and also the most cost-effective system available for controlling frost protection in rooms. The controller is housed in a control cabinet on a DIN rail (6 modules) and uses a temperature and humidity sensor to monitor the current conditions in the area being monitored (roof eaves, outdoor surface). Heating (heating cables or heating mats) is then activated only when the controller simultaneously detects a drop in temperature below the set point and the presence of moisture – water, snow or ice. The temperature and humidity sensors used for protecting roof eaves differ from those used for protecting outdoor areas; therefore, they are not included with the controller – see Sensors for open areas and Sensors for gutters and downpipes.
