The cottage is situated on the outskirts of the village of Černá Voda, in the heart of the Rychlebské Mountains, below the ruins of Kaltenštejn Castle. Although it is situated close to the Rychlebské trails, which are quite busy, it is separated by a valley and offers an ideal retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cottage has a living area of around 200 m² and sits on a plot of approximately 3,000 m². It is a passive house.
Objective: We have renovated our cottage to blend into the landscape in a modern style, whilst incorporating elements typical of mountainous regions. We designed the cottage to be as self-sufficient as possible. Heating is provided by a combination of electric radiant heating and a wood-burning stove. We have installed ECOSUN radiant panels in the living areas, and ECOFLOOR heating mats in the hallways and bathrooms. Each room is controlled by TFT Wi-Fi thermostats, which can be operated remotely via the FENIX Control app. This means we can control the entire property at once or each room individually. The house is fitted with a tiled stove in the kitchen and a wood-burning stove in the living room, so that the whole house can be heated even without electricity. In addition, we can use the tiled stove to heat domestic hot water. If the distributor allows us to feed surplus energy into the grid, we plan to install a photovoltaic system and a HES battery storage unit. We also have our own well.
