Electric heating

Detached House, Písečná

A new-build property in Písečná, fitted with electric underfloor heating, demonstrates that low running costs are possible even in a home offering the highest level of comfort.

The family home was built in 2018 in the village of Písečná near Jeseník, and its architecture is inspired by traditional Jeseník country houses. It is a single-storey building with a habitable loft and a utility area. Built using Ytong Lambda 450 blocks, the house has a living area of over 163 m² and is designed for a family of four. The building is divided into a heated living area and unheated utility spaces.

The main source of heating is the ECOFLOOR electric underfloor heating system with an installed power of 9.6 kW. The bathrooms are fitted with electric ladder radiators, and the living room has a wood-burning stove, which consumes approximately 1 m³ of wood per year. Water is heated by an electric storage water heater, whilst ventilation is provided by a heat recovery unit with electric supplementary heating.

Homeowner's Testimonial

We have air-conditioning units installed in the house, which we use both for cooling and for supplementary heating during the transitional seasons, as well as an outdoor swimming pool with its own heat pump. The house also features an 8.5 kWp rooftop solar power system, supplemented by a 14.3 kWh battery. With the current setup, the photovoltaic system covers around 21 per cent of the house’s total energy consumption, so we still see scope for further optimisation and improving the use of the energy generated. Total annual electricity consumption in 2021 and 2022 was around 11 MWh, and after taking into account generation and surplus feed-in from the photovoltaic system, our annual electricity costs amounted to approximately 30,000 CZK.
