Reference: Battery storage at DK Styl

DK Styl, based in Ústí nad Orlicí, has long been committed to using clean energy. It began building a solar power plant in 2021; today, it has a capacity of 113 kWp and is planning to expand it by a further 40 kWp. The electricity powers all production equipment as well as part of the company’s vehicle fleet. Annual consumption during two-shift operation amounts to 200–230 MWh, which places high demands on stable and efficient energy management.

Following his experience of operating the solar power plant, the business owner decided to add a Battery storage system capable of peak shaving, off-grid operation and trading on the spot market. The originally planned capacity was 384 kWh, but this was ultimately increased to 576 kWh thanks to the efficiency of the control algorithm. The 150 kW storage system eliminates power surpluses and enables the stored energy to be utilised, particularly during the second shift.

FENIX Energy Concept – Interim Results

The site comprises a complex of refurbished and new production halls, with adjoining brownfield areas offering potential for further development. Automated production lines are used extensively in the manufacturing processes – in particular, a cutting and bending centre for sheet metal processing, robotic welding and handling stations, a powder coating plant and extrusion lines for cable production.
