Case study: Electric heating for a football pitch

At the stadium in Prostějov, it was necessary to extend the heated areas beyond the main playing surface. The existing hot-water system had been installed only beneath the pitch’s turf, and extending it to the warm-up areas would have required costly refurbishment. When resurfacing the pitch and installing artificial turf, a simpler and more cost-effective solution in the form of electric heating was therefore chosen.

The exercise areas are heated using ECOFLOOR MASA heating mats with a power output of 130 W/m². The total heated area is 1,637 m²; 41 heating mats have been installed, with a total power consumption of 164.5 kW. The system’s operation is controlled according to the outdoor temperature and humidity. As a rough guide, energy consumption is approximately 165 kWh per hour of continuous operation.
