Heating cables were installed in a vineyard in the village of Ivaň, covering an area of 10,880 m² with 28 rows of vines. Given the sloping terrain, protection was focused on the lower part of the vineyard, which is most at risk from frost. Heating cables were installed in 22 rows, each 75 metres long. The solution was designed by FENIX Trading, drawing on its experience with European vineyards.

ECOFLOOR ADPSV 18 W/m heating cables with a UV-stabilised sheath and a 230 V power supply were used. The cables are secured directly to the vine trellises using standard binding wire and can remain in the vineyard permanently. A total of 11 heating circuits, each 150 m long and with a power output of 2,600 W, were installed; the total power consumption for the heated area is 28.6 kW.

The heating circuits are connected via quick-connect couplings, which greatly simplifies operation. In the event of frost, all that is required is to connect the connecting cables and the power source – most commonly a generator. We use our own 32 kW generator for operation, so the only running costs are the cost of diesel. The purchase price of the cables, including accessories, was 87,000 CZK excluding VAT. During a frost of –2 °C in May 2025, the system proved its worth – the protected rows showed significantly less damage than the unprotected parts of the vineyard. It is estimated that the cables can save 50–70 per cent of the harvest that would otherwise have been destroyed.
